What is SafetyFOCUS?

SafetyFOCUS is the place to gain in-depth training on important safety topics. While most safety conferences provide an overview of important topics, SafetyFOCUS is your chance to take a deep dive into the material that matters most to you.

Courses are taught by leading safety experts who will engage learners through thoughtful discussion, new perspectives and proven strategies. Learn skills you can apply immediately on the job, get resources to guide you and build a professional support network that lasts a lifetime.

Whether you choose to attend in-person or online, you’ll interact with the instructor and connect with your fellow students in real time in ASSP’s unique Live Virtual Classroom.


Who should attend SafetyFOCUS?

SafetyFOCUS is open to anyone in the occupational safety and health (OSH) profession who is committed to education. Whether you are new to the profession or a seasoned manager, our education is designed to meet you wherever you are and help you achieve your individual goals.


When is SafetyFOCUS 2024?

February 12-16, 2024: Courses Presented in Person in Irvine, CA and in Our Live Virtual Classroom
Connect, engage and earn continuing education units (CEUs) in a safe small classroom setting. Experience hands-on coursework, focused learning and real-time instructor feedback. Plus, enjoy a complimentary lunch and refreshments each day you attend. If you are unable to travel to Irvine, you may join virtually in the Live Virtual Classroom from your location. If you have a computer with a camera, audio and internet access, you are ready to learn and earn CEUs at the same time as in person attendees.

February 19-23, 2024: Courses Presented in Our Live Virtual Classroom
Courses will be presented online in ASSP’s Live Virtual Classroom, which simply requires a computer with a camera, audio and internet access. Instructors will facilitate courses daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CT

Daily Schedule:

Week One: Instructors will facilitate courses from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. PT (Pacific Time) each day of the course.

Week Two: Instructors will facilitate courses from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. CT (Central Time) each day of the course. The half day courses will run from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. CT (Central Time).


Do I have to commit to the full week in order to attend SafetyFOCUS?

You do not. SafetyFOCUS offers the flexibility to build a custom learning path that supports your goals and fits your schedule. Our Schedule Builder tool provides an overview of all one-, two- or three-day courses and allows you to select and build your custom schedule.

When is the last day to register for a course?

SafetyFOCUS courses are available for online registration until 48 hours prior to the course start date or based upon availability. Less than 48 hours prior to the course start date, please contact our customer service team at +1 847 699.2929 to register prior to showing up at the facility in Irvine.

What are the safety and health protocols to attend in Irvine, CA?

Our on-site safety and health plan is designed to provide a safe event for attendees, instructors and staff. Attending an in-person event presents an inherent risk of exposure to communicable disease. By attending this event, you voluntarily accept all risks related to exposure from communicable disease and agree to not hold the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) or its representatives liable for any illness or injury.

All individuals who attend a course/s in Irvine will be required to follow these safety and health protocols. Please check the Health and Safety Plan regularly for updates.


What does my SafetyFOCUS in-person registration include?

Who do I contact to make changes to my registration?

Please contact our customer service team to make any adjustments to your schedule. You may email customerservice@assp.org or call us at +1 847 699.2929.


How do I get my continuing education units (CEUs)?
To receive CEUs, you need to be present for each course from start to finish and participate in the learning activities provided. We will post CEUs to your ASSP transcript within 48 to 72 hours upon completion of a course.
  • Half-day course = 0.4 CEUs
  • One-day course = 0.7 CEUs
  • Two-day course = 1.4 CEUs*
  • Three-day course = 2.1 CEUs

*Prevention Through Design and Risk Assessment & Management for Safety Professionals are two-day courses that receive 3.0 CEUs as part of the Risk Assessment and Management Certificate.


How do I access my transcript?

To access your CEU transcript, you will need to log in to your online ASSP account. Once you are logged in, click on the My Account tab at the top of the page. On the left side of the page, in the Education and Content section, you will see the word Transcript. Click on Transcript. This will bring up a list of all the CEUs you have earned through ASSP. You can either print or download your transcript.


Are the SafetyFOCUS courses recorded?

SafetyFOCUS 2024 courses will not be recorded. They will be delivered at the scheduled date and time. Learners will have the opportunity to engage in group discussions, participate in learning activities and ask questions throughout each course while earning CEUs.
