He has more than 30 years of experience in EHS, including delivery of exam preparation classes and experience in a wide range of industries and safety, security and compliance subjects. He has provided independent safety consulting services for more than 10 years, with a significant portion of that work related to training at all employee levels.

Patrick Karol, CSP, SMS, CIT

Patrick J. Karol is president of Karol Safety Consulting Inc. He is ASSP’s Region VIII Vice President. He started his career as a front-line supervisor with safety as a collateral duty, and now he advises senior leaders on strategies to reduce risk as president of Karol Safety Consulting Inc. His experience includes more than 20 years in the corporate safety departments of two Fortune 200 companies and the federal government. Karol is a past president of the Philadelphia Chapter and former keystone area director for Region VIII.

Joel Tietjens, CSP, CSHM, FASSP

Joel N. Tietjens is president of T-JENS & T-JENS Inc. He is a professional speaker and seminar/course leader on safety and health management issues. Tietjens holds a B.S. in Industrial Safety from the University of Central Missouri, and he has held many volunteer leader positions within ASSP’s Gulf Coast Chapter, Region III and Society-level committees.

Pamela J. Walaski, CSP, FASSP is president of ASSP. She is the owner of RiverLure OSH Services. Walaski has nearly 30 years of occupational safety and health experience and is an award-winning author and ASSP Fellow. She is a member of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to the ISO/TC 283 Committee, responsible for the ongoing development of ISO 45001, as well as the ANSI/ASSP Z16 Committee on metrics.

Deb Roy, CSP, M.P.H., CSP, FASSP is president of SafeTech Consultants Inc. and was the corporate director of health, safety and wellness at L.L. Bean for 12 years. Roy was ASSP’s 2021-22 president. She is an expert on risk, safety management systems and Total Worker Health®.

James ‘Skipper’ Kendrick, Jr. CSP, FASSP is president of Global Enterprises LLC. He has extensive experience in safety, management, education and training. As a safety strategist, Kendrick provides effective, innovative, team-oriented consultation that results in continual performance improvement. He holds a B.S. in industrial technology from Louisiana State University.

James Boretti, CSP, is president and CEO of Boretti Inc., a professional consulting firm supporting the design, development and implementation of workplace safety and health solutions. He is a former regional vice president of Region I, former president of the Central Valley and Orange County Chapters and has served on ASSP’s Council on Professional Affairs. Boretti is a recipient of the Society President’s Award for Continual Leadership and Mentoring, and two Culbertson Awards for Volunteerism.

Danyle Hepler, CSP, CPEA, is a technical expert with Haley and Aldrich. As an EHS professional, she partners with clients to discover strategic paths and tools and focuses on cocreating strategy and tactical plans to help clients achieve their vision. Hepler chairs ASSP’s Standards Development Committee.

Vic Toy, M.P.H., CSP, CIH, FAIHA, is principal of InsystOHS LLC. He specializes in occupational health and safety management systems and has been involved in developing related voluntary consensus standards such as ANSI/ASSP Z10 and ISO 45001 for more than 20 years.

Ken A. Clayman, PMP, PMI-RMP, SMS

Ken A. Clayman, PMP, PMI-RMP, SMS, is senior lead technical specialist with Booz Allen Hamilton. He has more than 25 years’ experience auditing quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management systems (OHSMS), and he has developed and presented management system auditor training courses for more than 20 years. Clayman holds an M.S. in Environmental Sciences. He has contributed to ASSP’s efforts to develop OHSMS standards such as ISO 45001 and ANSI/ASSP Z10.

Georgi Popov, Ph.D., CSP, QEP, ARM, FASSP

Georgi Popov, Ph.D., CSP, QEP, ARM, FASSP is a professor in the School of Geoscience, Physics and Safety (GPS) Sciences at the University of Central Missouri. Popov is Chair of the ANSI/ASSP Z590.3 Prevention Through Design Committee and Vice Chair of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to ISO/TC 262, responsible for the ongoing development of ISO 31000. He is an award-winning author and frequent instructor/presenter for ASSP and is an ASSP Fellow.
